The BMW 530d F10 is powered by the N57D30 engine. In this application, the engine produces 255bhp and 413 lb-ft of torque from the factory. Some earlier cars, produced from 2010 to 2011, produced 241bhp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Both cars are fast, luxurious, and easily keep up with some more expensive machinery.

The N57D30 engine in the F10 530d is a strong performer as standard, but it is held back by factory tuning. With a Hyperchips remap, this engine can easily produce 20 per cent more power and torque reliably, without any further modifications. Our remap for the F10 BMW 530d produces over 300bhp and 500 lb-ft of torque. With our tuning, in-gear acceleration is improved considerably, and the car feels livelier around the city with better boost.

BMW 530d – Our take

The BMW 530d is an outstanding motorway cruncher. Newer models are powered by the N57D30 engine with 255bhp and 413 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This smooth, reliable gearbox makes acceleration effortless and makes short work of start and stop traffic.

The 530d F10 is also available with xDrive. xDrive gives the 530d outstanding grip in all weathers, although it does take some adjustability away from the chassis. Although, on a car like this, customers don’t usually care. Astoundingly capable and extremely comfortable, the 530d is in many ways the ultimate BMW for the motorway.

Remapping the BMW 530d does take performance to another level, however. With a remap, you’re looking at a minimum 20 per cent power and torque increase. Over 300bhp is possible without any further mechanical modifications. That puts it close to the 535d, a car that costs much more on BMW’s price list. The 530d handles that extra power reliably too.
