VAG’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, known as the 2.0 TSI in Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen models and the 2.0 TFSI in Audi models, is the most popular performance engine of its type in the UK. It’s been in use since 2007; it replaced the old 1.8 T unit and it’s now available in an impressive 10+ car models. Its success is down to its impressive performance and emissions ratio and also its installation in a number of hot cars over the years, and the Seat Leon Cupra 280 and the Audi S3 in recent years.

We’ve been tuning 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TFSI engines since they were launched and we have been consistently impressed with the results. These engines are held back considerably by the OEM and they respond extremely well to tuning, without sacrificing longevity.

The difference between a 2.0 TSI remap and a stock 2.0 TSI remap is HUGE – you get a proper shove in the back in a tuned 2.0 TSI remap and they pull and pull and pull. Owners of 2.0 TSI remapped cars tuned by us all report a massive difference in acceleration across the rev range, and they all agree that their engine feels more like a 3.0-litre turbo than a 2.0-litre turbo. Also, our customers who have tracked their cars say that when accelerating from 0 – 70 mph or anywhere in-between the difference is around 3-4 car lengths with a TSI remap – and that’s a lot.

Driveability and performance after a TSI remap

Of course, remapping a car presents its problems – namely with regard to driveability, which can be affected in front wheel drive models. This isn’t as much of an issue with the likes of the MK7 Golf GTI and Cupra 280 with have a limited slip differential and control their power much more effectively than other models, but older models traditionally struggle for grip with a power increase. To combat this, our TSI remaps are designed to maintain your car’s driveability while increasing performance. There will be more wheel spin at low speeds but when your car finds grip it’ll pull like a train. This is a guarantee. We recommend that all drivers have mechanical sympathy for their rides and refrain from flooring it off the line, though, whether the car is stock or tuned – your clutch will thank you for it!

2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TSI remaps – worth it?

Our customers can’t believe how much faster their cars are after we’ve tuned them and they are also pleasantly surprised by an economy increase, which is 100% achievable if you drive your car normally on a run. We can remap your 2.0 TSI or 2.0 TFSI through the OBD port in a process that all in will take around an hour and we can perform this modification at your home or your place of work at a time and on a day that suits you.
